Today was day one of the setup. This is going to be a gigantic task! It took me about 45 minutes simply to unpack all of the iPods. Tomorrow I plan on beginning the intensive setup session. I have my own devices, but I have never set up 32 of them for a classroom. Therefore, I did what comes natural theses days. I jumped online and found some individuals who have experience in this field. Tony Vincent is a specialist in this area and I have found many great ideas and resources on his website. I even reached out on Twitter and he quickly responded back with some advice. The initial battle I am facing is whether to setup each iPod individually or use Apple Configurator to manage all of the devices. The problem here is that our school is dominantly a PC school and Apple Configurator requires a Mac. It is not the end of the world, but it does present a challenge.
If you know of anybody who would have suggestions or words of wisdom as I make this journey, please help me to get in contact with them. I truly believe this will be an incredible experience and I can't wait to get these devices in the hands of the students.
