Puppet Pals is a great iOS app which allows users to manipulate cartoon figures around a set and create a story. All characters in the story are manipulated by the user and the iPad records audio as the story is told. There are two versions of Puppet Pals currently available.
The original Puppet Pals uses characters which look like paper cutouts. You can move them, rotate them, and change the size of the character on the fly. For each story you can select up to seven characters and five backgrounds. You are able to switch between these scenes with a quick tap on the screen. When you are finished with your story, you can export the video to your camera roll and then transfer the finished product to other programs of your choice. The free version limits you to a select number of background and characters. You can purchase additional characters and backgrounds for $.99. However, you can buy the director's pass for $2.99 and get all of the characters and backgrounds. When you buy the director's pass you can also insert your own photos from your camera roll for characters and backgrounds. If you like the original Puppet Pals, definitely check out Puppet Pals 2.
